On Episode 285 of the Raised Rowdy Podcast, host Nick Tressler sits down with Texas singer-songwriter Slade Coulter to discuss his latest singles, “Crown Victoria” and “Lucky,” along with the full-length project he has on the way. Slade shares how “Crown Victoria” came together during a songwriting retreat at the historic Hotel Turkey and how “Lucky” was written after a borrowed van broke down in Kansas at four in the morning. They also dive into recording the new project with producer Josh Serrato, the record’s heavier and more nostalgic sound and the never-ending vehicle problems that come with touring. Slade reflects on growing up in a town of 500 people, building his career through Lubbock’s Blue Light, the supportive Texas music community and the growing connection between the Red Dirt and Nashville scenes. The conversation also explores storytelling, intimate acoustic shows and what it takes to turn a collection of songs into a memorable live experience.
