  • WATFORD V MIDDLESBRO | THE OPPOSITION VIEW
    Nov 4 2026
Pete and Justin look ahead to the visit of high-flying Middlesbrough, but first there's the small matter of Watford's spectacular second-half collapse at Norwich. We discuss the lack of leadership, questionable substitutions and whether the squad has the character required to compete in the Championship. There's also the curious case of the Sopwell House retreat, as we explore the Italian tradition of ritiro and whether a few nights away can solve rather more fundamental problems. Dana from Boro Breakdown gives us the opposition perspective, with Middlesbrough flying high but their supporters still wary of a familiar Vicarage Road disappointment. We also discuss the Graham Taylor Cup, the continuing disconnect between the club and its supporters, and what the international break might mean for the manager. Meanwhile, the DNSYE Prediction League returns with church visits, courtroom stakeouts and renewed scrutiny of Justin's supposedly impartial heads-or-tails app, which appears to have developed a suspicious preference for tails. Carl may wish to investigate. Finally, we touch on the forthcoming Spanish tax trial involving Gino Pozzo, wish his father Giampaolo well during his illness and consider where Watford might find themselves after the next two fixtures. Pete also offers heartfelt thanks for the many messages of condolence following his mum's passing. As ever, there's plenty of football, a little perspective and the occasional diversion into complete nonsense. Just another episode of our award-losing podcast. COYH!! • POST MATCH PHONE IN | WATFORD 1-0 LINCOLN CITY
    Nov 4 2026
Watford secured three precious points against Lincoln City thanks to a moment of quality from Stephy Mavididi in a match that threatened to give football a bad name. The performance was largely forgettable, but a clean sheet and a 1-0 victory were very welcome. We hear from supporters about individual performances, the Graham Taylor Cup and whether winning ugly is something we should simply learn to appreciate. There’s plenty happening away from the pitch too, as we discuss the Sopwell House retreat, the continuing uncertainty surrounding the club and the efforts of young Kaiden to organise a peaceful protest. We applaud his determination and explore how supporters might find common ground despite their differing opinions. Meanwhile, X Spaces does its best to sabotage the phone-in, and PJ provides a musical contribution that probably won't be troubling the charts. On a personal note, this was my (Peter) first proper return to Vicarage Road after four months caring for my mum, who sadly passed away on Friday. Being back at the football, seeing familiar faces and sharing the evening with my son meant considerably more than the quality of the match. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent condolences, offered support or simply said a kind word over recent days and months. It has meant an enormous amount to me and my family. Football might occasionally be dreadful, but the people you meet through it can be quite wonderful. COYH!! This Podcast has been created and uploaded by Do Not Scratch Your Eyes. • Norwich City v Watford: The Opposition View
    Oct 27 2026
It's the Norwich City preview, and Peter welcomes back our good friend Adam from The Pink ’Un to find out why things haven't quite gone according to plan at Carrow Road. Philippe Clement restored optimism last season, but a difficult start has brought familiar questions about recruitment, ownership and the relationship between club and supporters. All sounds rather familiar, doesn't it? We look at Norwich's summer business, including Andre Brooks and Sam Field, and examine their attacking options ahead of Saturday's encounter. There's an injury problem up front, some encouraging signs elsewhere and a welcome return in midfield that Peter would frankly rather hadn't happened. We also pay tribute to the recently retired Teemu Pukki, a Norwich legend whose achievements provide a rather pointed contrast with another former Canary striker. Back in the DNSYE studio, Peter, Justin and Carl attempt to make sense of Watford's performance at Wolves, the continuing uncertainty surrounding Andrea Dionisi and whether changing the manager would actually change very much at all. We discuss the balance of the squad, the apparent absence of player development and the increasingly worrying fixtures ahead. There are also some observations about Danish football, bouncy castles and the aerodynamic shortcomings of certain Watford players. Finally, the Completely Rubbish Prediction League returns, featuring a remarkably convincing Daniel Farke impression from Brett, a Halloween-themed visit to the the Dice Dons and the usual collection of predictions that suggest nobody is particularly confident about Saturday. We finish with a discussion about the future of Watford's manager, the difference between a damp squib and a damp squid, and the growing suspicion that we really should have stopped recording several minutes earlier.
