Emergency pod. Anthony Edwards will have an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee and could miss up to two months, one night after dropping 47 points on the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tom and Josh react to the Ant injury news and what it means for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

We talk through Ant’s timeline and whether he’s back for the Christmas Day game against OKC, where the Wolves sit in the Western Conference standings, and why a top six seed is the goal while he’s out. Then the big question: who steps up? LaMelo Ball gets the keys to the offense, Jaden McDaniels and Jonathan Kuminga could see a lot more usage, and we debate whether Ayo Dosunmu or Terrence Shannon Jr. should start, plus a Bones Hyland twin turbo push. We also cover the awards and contract hit for Ant, whether Ant or Donte DiVincenzo returns first, and lock in our Wolves record predictions for the first 30 games without Anthony Edwards.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are 3-0 and teh vibes are good. Anthony Edwards opened the season with 45 points and 10 rebounds in a blowout win over the Miami Heat, the Wolves won ugly in Orlando with seven players in double figures, and they ran the Toronto Raptors out of Target Center in the home opener.

We get into Jonathan Kuminga guarding Giannis, Ayo Dosunmu making his case for Sixth Man of the Year, Joan Beringer and Terrence Shannon Jr. improving every game, and how a smaller Wolves team became the best rebounding team in the NBA. In Stat Chat, we break down the Ant and LaMelo Ball on/off numbers: a +40.3 net rating together, and whether Chris Finch should keep staggering them.

One Big Thing looks at the early Western Conference picture, including the Jalen Williams injury in OKC, the Rockets’ hot start, the Spurs and Nuggets, plus the 0-3 Knicks and where former Wolves Julius Randle, Naz Reid, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker are landing. In Howl or Foul, we decide if the Wolves clear their Vegas win total of 48.5, make our picks for a week against the Cavs, Warriors, Clippers, and Spurs, and share the stat of the week: the top five players in the NBA in plus-minus are all Timberwolves. Plus some love for Jaden McDaniels’ midrange game and the new jerseys.

Tom and Josh shake off the offseason rust and get back on the mic as the Minnesota Timberwolves tip off a new season. And this one is all listener questions. They run a snake draft of the most anticipated games on the schedule, from the Kevin Garnett jersey retirement against the Celtics to the Spurs revenge game, OKC on Christmas, and Naz Reid’s first trip back to Target Center with the Hornets. Howl or Foul returns with your takes: do the Wolves come out of the West, is this the deepest and most talented roster in franchise history, and does Jaden McDaniels make the All-Star team?

They also get into KG’s return to the franchise, Joan Beringer’s backup center minutes, Jonathan Kuminga’s three-point shooting, LaMelo Ball’s health, and grade an offseason that sent out Julius Randle and Naz Reid to bring in LaMelo. Then it’s final calls on the record: the 47.5 win total, playoff seeding, MVP picks, Anthony Edwards’ season high, LaMelo triple-doubles, and whether Rudy Gobert finally hits a three.
