This week my dear friend Amy, sound healer and Reiki master, joins me at the crossroads to talk about Mary Magdalene and the pilgrimage that took her across an ocean. Amy was terrified of flying, and the trip she planned around her son's band tour fell apart. What came together instead was a journey through southern France, from the seaside town where the Marys are said to have come ashore, to the basilica holding Mary Magdalene's relics, to the mountain cave where legend says she lived out her final days. And yes, she walked into a Latin Mass in that cave on a rainy afternoon, completely unplanned.

We get into the Magdalene most of us were never taught about: the gospel that got left out, how she ended up labeled a prostitute, and why so many people are reclaiming her as a teacher and priestess in her own right. From there we dig into the real history behind Hoodoo and Vodou, two distinct traditions born from displaced people who built something powerful out of what little they were allowed to keep, and why the term black magic itself carries a racial weight most of us were never taught to see. We'll talk about magic and justice, about who gets to decide what's righteous when the world offers no protection at all, and then we'll get hands on with real tools you can use this week, from cord cutting and witch bottles to freezer jars and compact mirror spells.

This one asks you to rethink everything you were told about the darker side of the craft, and to start building an ethic that's actually your own.
