Does Mayor Zohar Mamdani have an antisemitism problem or is New York City anti-Muslim? It’s a complex question for a leader who has risen faster than anyone in a generation. He is the most charismatic and canny politician New York has seen in decades. Practically unknown a year ago, he’s now an international star who could seemingly do no wrong—until last week. Addressing a crowd at Union Square on the third anniversary of the October 7th attack on Israel, he managed to upset everyone by walking a tightrope on his support for the remembrance. Did he deserve the outcry, and how did he handle the next morning’s clean-up?

Also, Headquake: Jim and JB discuss the new art house film “Late Fame,” about a rediscovered '70s poet in modern-day downtown New York. Is it too close for comfort? A Boomer Has It! review.

Is Woke 1.0 Really Dead? If So, What’s Woke 2?

When US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently remarked that "Woke 1 was crazy," it raised a critical question: If Woke 1.0 is a thing of the past, what does Woke 2.0 look like?

In this episode, we explore the shifting tides of progressive politics. We analyze the political pivot away from hyper-identity focus toward universal health care and economic affordability, examine figures tied to the next wave like Zohran Mamdani and Abdul El-Sayed, and look at broader cultural markers.

Finally, we examine a fascinating case study out of Greenfield, Massachusetts: how Last Ditch Bar and Arts Venue's attempt to modify its COVID masking policy erupted into an online an online firestorm over ableism (among other crimes) and leading to what some are calling the epitaph of an era.

Join Boomer Has It! as we review A24’s psychological thriller Primetime. DSirected by Lance Oppenheim, the film star Robert Pattinson in a provocative, unhinged performance inspired by To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen.

The film explores the fine line between investigative journalism and exploitation, but does it bear an uncanny resemblance to Tim Fehlbaum’s September 5? We also discuss Oppenheim and Nathan Fielder’s secret collaboration on You Can See Everything.

All that, plus…the politics-busting power of the bond market!
