    Episode Notes

I discovered this week's special guest a few months ago, at Henderson's Sandy Lee Watkins Songwriters Festival, and couldn't help falling in love with her sound!! She is Sarah Beth Brewer, the pride of Dawson Springs, KY, who has been wowing audiences for several years along with her guitar-playing brother Jacob Patton. Sarah Beth and Jacob have already been privileged to open for 90s country sensation Deana Carter at the Victory Theater in Evansville, and they've also played a pre-show party for Zach Top at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville. Grab a comfy chair as we enjoy the story of their career pursuits before diving head-first into music, and the fuel for their commitment to singing and playing. We'll also hear of upcoming opportunities for you to see Sarah Beth and Jacob in person, and hear a couple of their marvelous masterpieces (one of which hasn't even been released at this point!). Sarah Beth's pure and polished voice is simply irresistible! So enjoy the show, and make sure you keep tabs on her and her brother by liking/following her Facebook page found here: https://www.facebook.com/people/Sarah-Beth-Brewer/100088784006214/.

    Oct 2 2025
    Episode Notes

Through her teaching and broadcasting contributions, this week's very special guest has certainly made her mark on the campus of Western Kentucky University! She is Dr. Erika Brady, who spent over three decades serving as a professor in WKU's Department of Folk Studies and Anthropology. Erika is also the long-time host and producer of "Barren River Breakdown", a show featuring a wide range of folk and bluegrass music, heard weekends on WKU Public Radio. Come along as Dr. Brady describes her inspiring educational pursuits, including a degree from HARVARD, and explains how she ultimately found her way to Bowling Green. She also reflects on a few of the courses she taught, details the labor of love invested in each episode of "Barren River Breakdown", and discusses the creative means by which she remains active in her retirement years. After listening to our conversation, I think you'll agree there isn't a whole lot that Dr. Brady hasn't at least attempted! To learn more about the many specialty programs (like "Barren River Breakdown") heard on WKU Public Radio, and even listen online, simply visit WKYU's web page found here: https://www.wkyufm.org/.

    Episode Notes

Audubon Area Community Services has been an invaluable asset to many in need over the years . . .yet far too few of us are knowledgeable about their program offerings. For this reason, I'm giving Audubon a long-overdue "Notable Nonprofit" spotlight! It's with great pleasure that I present Heather Yeiser, who serves as Audubon's Director of Employment Services. Join her as she explains how she found a home at Audubon, and describes the honorable mission of the organization. She also fills us in on Audubon's upcoming Veterans Resource Fair, its RSVP Program matching seniors with volunteer opportunities in their communities, and its Senior Companion Program connecting patrons with partners who assist them with various day-to-day tasks. Heather most certainly has a heart for helping . . .so, feel free to email her with any questions you may have regarding our conversation at hyeiser@audubon-area.com. And, don't forget to visit the website linked here for even more insight on the remarkable work of Audubon Area Community Services: https://www.audubon-area.com/.
