Digital accessibility for transportation agencies, public engagement processes, and the AEC firms that support them. Each week, Becky Rehorn, CPACC, D.M., breaks down a different dimension of ADA Title II compliance as it applies to the organizations that build, plan, and maintain public infrastructure. Practical. Specific. Grounded in how the work actually gets done. From Accessible Organizations Group.

  • Who Actually Enforces This?
    Sep 23 2026

It is the question Becky Rehorn hears in almost every conversation with consulting firms and public agencies: who enforces ADA Title II digital accessibility, and what does noncompliance actually look like? In this episode, she walks through the two enforcement channels that predate the 2024 rule, what DOJ settlement agreements actually require, what the broader Title II public record shows, why obligations under Title II and Section 504 apply to public meeting content right now, and how enforcement pressure on agencies becomes procurement pressure on the firms that serve them. • The Enforcement Gap
    Jul 16 2026

The DOJ extended the ADA Title II compliance deadline to April 2027. Public participation did not get an extension. In this episode, Becky Rehorn examines the year of public meetings, comment periods, and study materials happening between the original deadline and the extended one. She explains why the extension is not a safe harbor, why the standard accommodation notice cannot substitute for accessible content, and what Title II has required since 1990 regardless of any technical benchmark. More than one in four American adults has a disability. The deadline tells you when enforcement begins. It has never told you when access matters. • Special Episode: Chapter 3 - Real. Relevant. Required.
    Jul 13 2026

This episode is a reading of Chapter 3 from Real. Relevant. Required.: A Practitioner's Guide to ADA Title II Digital Accessibility for State and Local Government by Becky Rehorn. The rule requires WCAG 2.1 Level AA. But what does that actually look like when you are sitting in front of a document, a website, or a public comment portal? Chapter 3 walks through the four principles that organize the standard (Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust), explains what the 50 testable success criteria at Levels A and AA require in plain language, and connects each principle to the specific content types that transportation agencies and AEC firms produce every day. This is not a technical manual. It is a practitioner's translation of what the standard means for the work you are already doing. For the next several weeks, Access Brief is sharing chapters from the book, available now on Amazon.
