Chase
My world forever changed for the worse four years ago. My mistake cost my best friend everything. The only person he truly loved—his little brother. Gone, without a trace. The guilt consumes me. Though we've tried, there's no moving past it. The loss is too great. Until one day, a knock on the door gives me the chance to fix what I ruined. Except, what if it comes at the cost of losing my best friend? What if I do everything I can to save Easton and it's still not enough?
Easton
I just want a clean break. A fresh start. The last thing I want to do is ask my brother for help after he abandoned me when I needed him the most, but I have nowhere else to go. When his best friend takes me in to keep the peace, I realize how truly broken I am. There's nothing left of me, all the things that used to make me special got lost somewhere along the way. My past haunts me in ways I never could have expected. I'm getting attached to Chase fast, but how can he want me like this?
Contains mature themes.

No, it wasn't, the whole thing could have been told and resolved in those almost 12.5 hours imho.
I truly resent authors who blow up stories with unnecessary drama culminating at the end of a long winded, repetitive story.
OK, we got it! The main protagonist suffers from severe PTSD.
And yet nobody considers suggesting therapy so he can work through it? And the oh-so-clever protagonist doesn't tell anybody he's being followed by a strange car for some time.?
And the boyfriend has a loving, close-knit family and yet is incapable of expressing his love to a guy he's completely smitten with?
What are those characters? Are they all mentally challenged or immature teenagers? They're supposed to be adults but act like secretive high schoolers.
The lack of common sense is baffling, and the main character's whiny self flagellation gets old quite early in the story. I don't know why I soldiered through those hours and hours of audio. I was probably hoping for all characters to finally find a viable way of coping and healing. But no, I was sorely disappointed.
The cliffhanger at the end definitely put me off so much that it killed any lingering interest in the rest of the story. So no, I won't be listening to it. I just couldn't stomach another 12 hours of the same wallowing in self-doubt.
Kudos to the readers for working through a story with potential that sadly turned out to be boring and unsatisfying in the end.
OK if you like long winded PTSD stories
