I survived my first year at Witch College, so I figured summer break would be the easy part — yeah, right.
I've got a coven that keeps growing, a Family name older than most of the Council, and a mother who's been alive this whole time — somewhere past a bridge in West Virginia she went off of twenty years ago.
Chasing that trail means werewolves, a Family that trades its own daughters like stock options, and a night in a Louisiana graveyard cutting a deal with the dead.
Second year at Willowmere isn't any calmer. Gabriel's still out there doing something worse than killing witches. The Patriarchy didn't end in that farmhouse. And the oldest, hungriest witch in the old country has decided my coven owes her a debt none of us agreed to — and she's coming to collect.
My coven is stronger than ever, and I'm going to need every bit of it.
Last year, all I had to do was survive.
This year, I have to be worthy.

Not too crude, just the right amount of humor, and no "loose ends" resolved in a stupid way because the author ran out of ideas. I also like how it frequently references small details from the previous books. The immersion is excellent. The series is well worth listening to — a feel-good story that always makes me smile.

But at the same time I've got to say this is so far the weakest entry for me. The MC throughout the whole book when it came to bigger things happening is quite whiny, bitchy and indecisive and most issues got then resolved because someone else brought the conclusion. This brings up the second point for me, that the MC lacked a bit of agency here, only going with the flow for the most time and have others clear things up or push him to do it. This is probably (and hopefully) due to the fact that this book seems to work as a prelude for what comes next.
And last, at least regarding the story, there is a lot of scene/location jumping which causes some of them to feel more like isolated mini stories/events instead of being part of a bigger story.
And last but not least the sound design is at times a bit off. Dont get me wrong the VAs do a fantastic job, but due to the sound design, there are at times longer pauses between sentces or between scenes which can throw the listener off and make conversations feel read instead of actually spoken.
But still love the overall story and I am wait
the weakest so far
