There is nothing quite like the love you have for your children. You would follow them to the ends of the Earth if they needed you.

Evidently, you would also follow them back in time. Back hundreds of years, to a place where my husband ruled a very different kingdom. One where kidnapping and keeping me as his captive went hand in hand with making me his wife. But the problem with skipping timelines had always been the same… escaping Draven. Because for him, it was finally… The Time of Kings.

The Time of Kings begins a standalone duet set thirty years after the epic conclusion of the Afterlife Saga series. This two-book story offers a fresh, gripping adventure that can be enjoyed on its own. Step back in time, where fate is rewritten, kingdoms rise, and love refuses to be forgotten. Enjoy more of Draven and Keira's story.

*The Time of Kings* and *The Time of Queens* belong together and can be viewed as a time-traveling bridge between the Transfusion and Hellbeast series and Thane's Demon. They provide supplementary background information (e.g. What happened to Layla?) and show the enduring love between Draven and Keira, as well as Keira’s friendship with Sofia and Pip.

Since it has been quite a while since I read the Transfusion series, I would have appreciated a brief introduction at the start of *Time of the Kings* to help get oriented and settle into the story more easily. As it was, it felt like suddenly jumping into an ongoing plot. *The King of Kings* also consisted two-thirds of Keira's and Dominic's POVs, echoing the time-travel scene at the end of the Transfusion series. That became almost a bit tedious over time. The final third then transitions into *The Time of Queens* with a new plotline and was significantly better. You can read this time-travel story, but it isn't strictly necessary in order to follow the book series that come after the Transfusion series. Die-hard fans of Keira and Draven, however, will love it.
