Professor Challenger imperiously summons his three best friends to come to his country house, each one to bring a cylinder of pure oxygen. When they arrive, the reason for this strange request becomes terrifying clear. Professor Challenger has become convinced that the earth is entering a poison belt of ether and that life upon this planet is doomed.
In a sealed room, to the sound of the slow hiss of escaping oxygen, Professor Challenger and his friends wait out the night as humanity prepares to meet its fate.
Also included in this volume are two other famous Professor Challenger stories, "When the World Screamed", and "The Disintegration Machine."©1913 United Kingdom

Najtrafniejsze

The poison belt is a rather short Professor Challenger story, and not the most exciting. This audio book also contains the two Prof. Challenger short stories. That was the main reason for choosing this version. At the time of purchase it was the only possibility to listen to them too.
At the beginning I didn't like the narrator, but I got used to him. Also in the beginning I had the feeling the narrative was interrupted by pauses. Pauses you wouldn't make while reading or speaking, more like two audio files were merged together. It stoped after a while.
