We all keep secrets. Even from ourselves.

YOU ARE INVITED TO JOIN THE MAIDENS.

The Maidens are Cambridge University's most exclusive society, whose members are selected by the charismatic professor of Greek tragedy, Edward Fosca.

A SECRETIVE SET OF THE BRIGHTEST, MOST CAPTIVATING STUDENTS.

When one of the Maidens is murdered, grieving young therapist Mariana Andros is drawn back to the idyllic campus where she was once herself a student.

THE GROUP FROM WHICH EACH VICTIM WILL BE CHOSEN.

Because beneath the university's ancient traditions and beauty is a web of secrets, jealousy and lies. And when the killer threatens the person she loves most, Mariana will give anything to stop them - even her own life...

From the #1 global bestselling author of The Silent Patient comes a spellbinding tale of psychological suspense, weaving together Greek mythology, murder, and obsession...

A very thrilling audio book with a great narrator. The mystery was excellent and I didn't see the twist coming. I also enjoyed that there was a crossover moment with the authors first novel, The Silent Patient.

Very suspenseful

I loved the setting but I was very disappointed that the Maidens were not much more than exactly that: part of the setting. a background for another story. I wanted to know more about them, about their lives, their secret club, the dynamics between them. but the author made them side characters in Mariana's story. and Mariana's story wasn't half as interesting as the Maidens.
also, I'm so sick of weak female characters and stereotypical heterosexual man and this story has a lot of them...
still it was an easy read and some of the twists were well made. the ending did make sense in a way but it didn't gave me the speechless moment of realisation when everything comes together, that I expect from a story like that. all in all it was okay but not great.

did not live up to my expectations

Complete disappointment - did not finish it

I previously read The Silent Patient and enjoyed it but unlike other authors I suppose not all books are equally as good. I found the story to be drawn out and there was way to much about Mariana and not enough about the other characters and then all of a sudden you get to finally finding out who the male voice is and it is rather disappointing. Had I not been listening to this book and actually reading the physical book I wouldn't have finished it.

Long drawing out book
