We fought the invading New Men to a standstill and defeated the alien destroyer sent to obliterate Earth.
The worst should be over, but it's not.
Perfect android replicas are impersonating high-level officials so trust is failing. Worse, the New Men have found allies with an impenetrable stealth technology.

One thing that continues to frustrate me about the series is that it keeps showing the view of "bad" antagonists. What I mean by that is that some of the antagonists are utterly unrelateble: Genetically enhanced humans who believe themselves to be part of a "master race" (called the new men), who can barely say a sentence or have a thought that doesn't involve expressing how superior they are to "submen" (sic), all while committing genocide as a matter of course. Additionally they are supposed to be smarter than normal humans but have somewhere along the line nearly completely lost the ability for introspection. I enjoy a good antagonist (as well as their POV) as much as the next person, but the new men are for the most part just boring cardboard cutouts whose perspective could be wholly removed from the story without losing anything important to the plot.
