Do you want to know a secret? I’m a little crazy.
Want to know another? All the best people are.
I’m the guy that smiles as I plan your downfall, laughs as you cry in pain, tells a joke as I read you your last rites, and howls as I send you to the hell you deserve.
I’m the good guy, wrapped up in a warped, depraved package of sin, a savior destined for the depths of hell.
My life is perfect. My friends are psychotic. Everything is how I like it: uncomplicated chaos—until her.
She thought she could destroy me, ruin me in the worst way. The thing is, I love a challenge, and the only one getting destroyed in this twisted little game is her…in the best way.
They call me the Joker because I always have the last laugh. I’m about to show the world the greatest trick of all. No one messes with a king and lives to tell the tale.
The Joker is an enemies-to-lovers, new adult, standalone romance from Nikki J Summers that contains mature content. This story takes place in the Soldiers of Anarchy world, and although listening toThe Psycho and The Reaper will help to understand some of the characters, it’s not essential to the enjoyment of this story.

It’s been a hot minute since I listened – twice in a row! After the first time, I burst into tears, simply because it was over. I couldn’t let go yet and so I listened again. The Joker (as all the author’s books) is an incredible story with deep, dark characters that move you to the core. It took me a while to be able to write about it. Because it’s that good. Because it went so deep. Because it will be a part of me forever. Because I had to digest it first. The things I felt were intense in the best sense. To me, Summer’s books are the perfect blend of true love and darkness. Heart and hate go hand in hand. There is no dark between the two lovers, but there is plenty of dark inside and outside of them.
I will not include any spoilers but what makes this book stand out in the series (and also the Rebels of Sandland series) is the darkness in the FMC’s character. Then again, no other woman but Shelley is a match for Colton. It had to be a character like hers because not only does she reflect the darkness in him, but she also tickles his hunter’s instinct, as well as the protective one. – Not that she needs it. Until she does.
This book has scenes and sentences that pulled so hard on my heartstrings that I had to rewind several times over to listen again and again. The depth of the characters, the trauma and the parts that start to heal as they are brought out into an open vulnerability that is deeply touching, all of this makes The Joker a great book that will forever live in my personal Hall of Fame!
Simply WOW!

The overall arc, or mystery, of this story was less interesting than in the previous books in the serie, the spicy scenes were more to my vanilla taste.
The two main characters were very well matched. The story made me really curious about what a Jacob's Ladder is.
The narrators were amazing. Both actors are really good at communicating emotions.
If you like Dark Romance and/or the previous entries in the series, you'll like this one too.
