Audible listeners agree! The “Bobiverse” series is “smart, funny and addictive,” “a love story to science fiction” and “my favorite series ever.”
BOBIVERSE TO-DO LIST:
· Determine who built a vast wormhole network–and why
· Investigate mysterious, derelict alien spaceship
· Crack faster-than-light travel
· Help tens of thousands of refugees find a new planet
· Confront a new threat from an old enemy
· Figure out how to save the known universe from certain destruction
So many crises, so little time. It’s really not easy being a Bob.
Listen to The Infinite Extent and you’ll see why fans demand “MORE BOBs PLEASE!” and exclaim, “With Ray Porter narrating, this surge drive is firing on all cylinders.”

Fun stuff, Lore Deepening and so on.
Only negatives are ... too short, too cliffhangery and the itty bitty war was wasted time. Better spent on more serious stuff.
One could only hope that a series so close to finishing... would put out a 15 hour book or two. So it finishes well in the range of 6~7 books.
Sure, we got unanswered questions atm. But the AI is nice, the galactic federation is running and the milkyway is more or less pacified.
Outside of exploreing more alien races and their planets and the "who are the they?" story line. There's not much to do.
Good continuation. The last bit was a bit "meh".

I loved Bobiverse 1-3, but since then the series has started to feel a bit stretched. With Heaven's River I thought, okay, this is a new cycle, and I enjoyed it as an intriguing adventure full of mystery.
The reveal of the main antagonist actually made me say "What, really?" out loud on the subway. I like the conclusion itself, but the buildup reminded me of how the First Order and Palpatine were handled in the Star Wars sequels. "Somehow..."
Additionally, for me, the science has crossed the line into magic, with a deus ex machina around every corner. There are too many convenient accidents and solutions that are either introduced just before they're needed or set up and then never used, which gets frustrating. Fewer real obstacles also make the universe feel smaller.
That affects the emotional side as well. I miss the sense of awe and the moments of sadness. Success and joy are there, but without struggle you can really feel, they don't land the same way.
Also, maybe it's just me, but the characters felt a bit off this time. What I always found most interesting were the interactions between a Bob and a non-Bob. Here it felt like it was mostly Bobs talking to other Bobs and those Bos are not quite the same from previous books.
Please don't misread my criticism. I love these books and Ray Porter's narration, and all of this comes from a place of admiration and affection. Maybe this one was rushed. If so, please take the time for proper polishing and quality control, and if the publisher is pushing, stand your ground so the series end isn't remembered the way Game of Thrones is.
