Richard Armitage nailed it again, what a gripping voice! Also best story of the Jackman series yet.

A classic whodunnit with likeable lead characters, a comfortable pace and some delicious twists in it. While the plot is at times highly unrealistic (e.g. two detectives enter a house unarmed to face a possible serial killer), cheesy and the ending very disappointing indeed, it never gets boring either. I did get frustrated with the story at points, e.g. when a certain clue or conclusion was literally staring you in the face and the story felt it still had to rub your nose in it repeatedly or - worse - hadn't got it yet. Armitage is an excellent performer, though, with lots of different tones and voices which turn the audiobook into an audioplay and considerably help keep up its tension and charm. Nice enough read for a holiday or before bedtime.

Mein 4. Jackman & Ellis. Inzwischen mag ich die Beiden und ihre Art miteinander zu agieren sehr. Ich fand die Handlung spannend, hatte aber eine andere Lösung des Verbrechens im Kopf. Aber okay. Ich setze alle meine Hoffnung in eine Fortsetzung dieser Folge!

Don’t start if you cannot finish it right away… it is such an interesting plot from the start that you can bot pause it!!

I am listening to the entire Jackman and Evans book series again and they are gripping and exciting as they were when I listened to them for the first round. I even discover new details in this first encounter with Alistair Ashcroft. Needless to say, Richard Armitage is the perfect narrator!
