Ruth is a great main character and DCI Nelson is interesting even if we only learn very little of him
the story is ok, the atmosphere created is dark and very thrilling. the narrator is quite good even if the sound could be better worked over after recording.

Unfortunately, the narration makes this audiobook almost impossible for me to listen to. The narrator constantly swallows audibly and makes noticeable lip-smacking and wet mouth noises while reading. I find these sounds extremely distracting and unpleasant, to the point that I cannot concentrate on the story or continue listening.

This is especially disappointing because an audiobook should be enjoyable and comfortable to listen to, but the recording quality and narration completely ruin the experience for me. One star.
