This Penguin Classic is performed by Luke Thompson, best known for his role in the hit Netflix drama Bridgerton. This definitive recording includes an introduction by David McDuff.

A deep, complex examination of the crucial philosophical questions of human existence, from one of the world's most renowned novelists

'The mystery of human existence lies not in staying alive, but in finding something to live for'

The murder of brutal landowner Fyodor Karamazov changes the lives of his sons irrevocably: Mitya, the sensualist, whose bitter rivalry with his father immediately places him under suspicion for parricide; Ivan, the intellectual, driven to breakdown; the spiritual Alyosha, who tries to heal the family's rifts; and the shadowy figure of their bastard half-brother, Smerdyakov. Dostoyevsky's dark masterwork evokes a world where the lines between innocence and corruption, good and evil, blur, and everyone's faith in humanity is tested.

I loved the book, I loved the speaker acting the whole book. I felt every bit of story. Really recommended.

The best of Dostoyevsky

unnecessarily verbose at times for me, but the richness of detail had it's purpose, all considered.

excellent reading

The story is a classic: not much needs to be said there. The narrator deserves special praise here. This is the best voice acting I've heard in any audiobook. The different voices are very convincing and realistic. He has also made an effort to pronounce foreign words correctly, unlike many other readers I've heard. French and German are excellent. Even his Russian pronunciation is surprisingly good. Overall a very enjoyable listen!

Excellent reading!

Yes, you do have to be interested in the topic. How people act and what drove them to these actions. Dostojewski provides you with everything. Environments, History, inner conflict, character, faith and intellect. Luke Thomson did an amazing job creating every character individually. He brought everything to life. Thank you sir! I loved every minute of it!

Perfect Audio Book

At the start I was not sure what to think about it but it was good in the end. I'm sure there is more value to be found from it on repeat listens although it will be a long while before I attempt that given its length!

Good once it got going
