A freelance film editor, Tracy Bateman goes where the work is. So when his old partner calls with an assignment, Tracy finds himself on a plane to Rome. With his personal and professional life in shambles, semi-alcoholic film editor Tracy Bateman accepts an editing job in Rome from his old friend Kevin, even though he suspects that all is not what it seems. Sure enough, he's soon crossing swords with Kevin, battling European gangsters, and trying desperately to protect his unstable wife, Lauren. The violence, though it comes only in short bursts, is surprisingly effective, and performer Chris Ruen perfectly captures the melancholy, tough-guy protagonist. Written by the prolific and talented Madison Smartt Bell, this brooding literary thriller is an ideal choice for overnight Atlantic flights, rainy mornings, and whiskey-enhanced evenings.
