Fesselnde Story - Sprecherin sehr angenehm - Suchtfaktor hoch

I have been searching for good mercenary novels and this one was amazing. Great narration, a very interesting story and low fantasy theme. New perspective from the eyes of a (female) recruit + the logistics and the travel. Also loved that there were no romance elements. Now off to book 2 😎

Great Mercenary Novel

Finally—finally—a fantasy novel that isn’t bloated with endless, pointless descriptions. Finally a fantasy novel that doesn’t chew over the obvious in interminable inner monologues. Finally a fantasy novel that moves the story forward without rushing it, and that portrays scenes and actions in a convincing way. One that manages to build tension without forcing its protagonists to act maximally unreasonable or downright stupid.
The heroine is a heroine—even though she has weaknesses and still has to grow. Above all, she is neither a whiny wreck eaten up by self-pity and regret, nor the opposite extreme: a self-made, all-capable superhuman. In recent years, I have mostly come across poor to mediocre authors who had some good ideas for world-building and plot, but only limited craftsmanship when it came to turning them into a compelling fantasy novel, and who usually failed because of the shortcomings mentioned above.
Moon’s novel, by contrast, is a gem, and the narrator is brilliant on top of that. The only real criticism is that it is virtually impossible to fully process the sheer number of characters and locations—certainly not in an audiobook. If, however, one focuses on the central characters and places and lets the rest rush by, this does not detract from the story at all.

Well written, consistent and compelling fantasy
