From #1 New York Times bestselling author Brandon Sanderson, who completed Robert Jordan's bestselling Wheel of Time? sequence, come a Mistborn adventure which combines terrorism and assassination, political intrigue and magical, martial-arts action.

When family obligations forced Waxillium Ladrian to forsake the frontier lands known as the Roughs and return to the metropolis of his birth to take his place as head of a noble House, he little imagined that the crime-fighting skills acquired during twenty years in the dusty plains would be just as applicable in the big city. Nor that being a talented Twinborn ? one who can use both Allomancy and Feruchemy, the dominant magics on Scadrial ? would not suffice.

This bustling, optimistic, but still fragile society will now face its first test by terrorism and assassination, both intended to stir up labour strife and religious conflict. Wax, his eccentric sidekick Wayne, and brilliant, beautiful young Marasi, now officially part of the constabulary, must unravel the conspiracy before civil strife can stop Scadrial's progress in its tracks.

Opinie krytyków

this book will reward your attention - with fire, blood, excitement, and adventure. Pick it up, and start reading!
a wonderful new addition to the series which I deeply love and it completely fulfilled my rather high expectations. It is a literary equivalent of a big-budget action flick that's impossible not to finish in a single sitting. Riveting stuff.
An exciting new start to the second Mistborn era, Shadows of Self is a fantasy delight full of delicious adventure, friends of old, and a mystery to lose yourself in.
. By itself Shadows of Self offers a great point to pick up the series, but in all I think a lot of the references to other books will be missed so pick up at least Alloy of Law before reading this one...Awesome stuff. Never a boring moment.
Shadows of Self is another success for Brandon Sanderson, who continues to not only remain a reliable writer of the fantastic, but continuously surprises his readers with new styles, new voices, and new mysteries, building sturdily upon the foundations he laid in The Alloy of Law and the Mistborn series... Shadows of Self is a thoroughly satisfying read for Sanderson fans old and new.
Whether you're a fan of the original Mistborn trilogy or simply Sanderson's world-building and writing style, this book is definitely worth your time.

Was genau hätte man an Shadows of Self noch verbessern können?

First things first: The book and the narrator are great, there is nothing at fault there and I couldn't praise them enough.

That being said, unlike the Alloy of Law, this audiobook is lacking audible cues at the beginning of chapters. Without them, it is sometimes impossible to distinguish when one chapter ends and another chapter starts, which is very annoying if you want to finish a chapter to resume listening at some other time.

Great book, great narrator, but bad formatting

First Sanderson novel that I had "difficulty" to go on with midway, but the end compensated for that midterm motivational gap.

Really long way to a fulminant ending.

but still very good! and awesomely read, as always by Michael Kramer. still some unexpected twists and kind of the same world - I loved it!

not quite as good as the first

it feels like coming home again. the mistborn series as a background, wax and wayne face a new enemy. or is it an old one? major plot twists kept me shaking. thanks for this awesome book, currently downloading the next one. michael cramer did - again - an excellent work with the slangs and even topped his previous work!

another stunning novel in the mistborn series.
