I generally thought the male voice was a good fit, but at times it felt like he was trying to force a “scratchy/raspy” tone. Those parts made me cringe a little, and I would have liked to skip them. I was really happy when it got less after a few chapters.
Other than that, I thought the male voice suited the story well, and I enjoyed listening to both narrators.
