The cultivator’s path is a double-edged sword. Around every corner hides death–and opportunity.
Life in the Water Dragon Sect isn’t easy for Red. He must master his Crimson Sense, exploring the limits of his new power and its mysterious nature. He trains relentlessly, learning the skills necessary for the path of a cultivator.
All the while, the curse hangs over his head, threatening to take away everything Red has accomplished.
But greater dangers are brewing outside the walls of the Sect. A hidden treasure, left behind by a power greater than anything Red or his allies can imagine, has been revealed. Imperials, bandits, and even darker forces gather to lay claim to the legendary inheritance.
With power ripe for the picking, this is Red’s chance to gain the strength he so desperately needs. Powerful cultivators, deadly trials, and giant monsters stand in his way.
But Red’s mind is set.
He will claim the inheritance or die trying

It dives quite a bit deeper into the cultivation aspect, showcasing pills, talismans, cultivation techniques, artifacts and inheritance grounds.
While it might not be for everyone and still holds back a lot in terms of action, it still is a great story, with a smart main character and a narrator I really enjoy listening to.
Slow, but great

But:
This story’s progression is slower than a snail with a lot of unnecessary situation inputs.
Sense of time is also screwed sometimes.
You don’t fight overwhelmingly strong in a battle and take minutes per foe.
The narrator is generally really good, but when 2 people observe someone from a roof and whisper, they don’t yell at each other…
He is trying to bring over emotions so much, that you start to feel he has no situational awareness.
Sadly it feels even worse, because one of the main chars in this books is insufferably annoying in connection.
Horrible pacing
