Angel ist Anfang 20, Schulabbrecherin, vorbestraft, drogenabhängig und - Zombie. Wie sie ihren neuen Zustand erkennt und damit umgeht, hat mich ständig vor mich hin kichern lassen. Ihre Geschichte wird im breitesten Südstaaten-Amerikanisch vorgetragen, die frechen Sprüche sind klasse. Zombie zu sein ist für sie nicht das Ende - es ist ein Neuanfang, eine zweite Chance für Angel, die ihr Leben schon so verkorkst hatte, dass sie kurz davor war, es ganz wegzuwerfen. Sie kriegt einen Job, lernt neue Menschen kennen, sieht die Dinge plötzlich in einem ganz neuen Licht. Natürlich gibt es noch einige Stolpersteine zu bewältigen, aber mit genug Hirn (zum Essen) geht das doch wunderbar ...
Ich habe mir auch noch die Fortsetzung geholt, "Even White Trash Zombies Get The Blues", ein tolles Hörerlebnis. Ich kann Angel nur weiterempfehlen!

In the cold flesh is more depth than this book look alike at the first glance! The author herself worked in that field. So the tiny details and routines seem veeery accurate. It's basically a serious book about what happens if somebody dies. Oh and the story got it's twists and good moments too. Sadly the Louisiana Feeling is very minimal in this book. At least geographically. That was a little bummer for me. The swamps and so forth were a little more than a sidenote. But the characters are interesting with their own flaws and moments. Not ultra memorable, but they stay positve in memory.

Mit viel Humor wird die Geschichte eines Losers erzählt der, bzw. die ihr Leben erst auf die Reihe kriegt nachdem sie zum Zombie gemacht wurde. Hervorragende Charakterentwicklung und thank God KEIN Frauenmysteryporno.
Auch schön gelesen. Unbedingt genießen!

Zombies einmal anders, keine stumpfsinnigen Gehirnfresser, sondern Angel! Okay, menschliches Gehirn auf dem Speisezettel ist unumgänglich auch für Angel, aber Diana Rowland hatte da so eine Idee ... Mehr verrat ich nicht, da die Art und Weise, wie Angel sich in ihrem neuen - technisch gesehen untoten - Leben zurechtfindet, ein wichtiger Teil der Story ist.
Diana Rowland ist bekannt für ihre Mischung aus Procedural und Fantasy/ Supernatural und hat auch in diesem Buch bewiesen wie hervorragend ihre Recherchearbeit ist,
Allison McLemore ist eine überzeugende Angel.
Also, an alle Hörbuchfans: KAUFEMPFEHLUNG!!

Cooler Zombie

That book was such a fun read. You don't often come across zombies like Angel. Yes, I have read other novels that had semi-human zombies in it that were fun but this one is I think the best one yet.

Other than the fact that it is deliciously filled with dark humor it actually has a real darkness and fully human side to it when it comes to Angel's background. She lived her life as blind as you can be. Only when she gets turned into a living corpse does she understand that her life actually had no meaning. She grows so much that I was really proud of her.

I have to say that the narrator of this audiobook is fabulous!!! I think without her it would not have been that amazing! Love the southern accent so much!
