Although this book starts a bit slow and has some sections that meander while awaiting action, this is quite fitting for a book on whaling. It was at no time boring, and the vocabulary alone can be enough to satisfy a hungry mind. I see why this is considered a timeless classic, and for any who appreciate nautical novelty it is a must read. (Or, in this case, "must hear")

Einfach nur Wow! Kein Wunder, dass dieses Hörbuch einen Award gewonnen hat. So einem fantastischen Sprecher habe ich noch nie zuhören dürfen. Ein Meisterwerk!

The book was draggy at times, but the ending was absolutely phenomenal. The narrator was possibly the best one I have ever heard. Splendid work.

Wasn't sure which version i would download to hear but I am so glad to have downloaded this one! The story stays the same but the enthusiasm and energy and Clarity of the reader is fantastic. Really enjoyable! Each character has his own voice and mood,but not overdoing or over acting the said character,. I can only say it you want to hear one of the best classics read to you then this is really the one!! I sit in my studio working and listen while working,just lovely! Blown away. I'm only into chapter 10 and can't wait till the crew hits sea! Awesome.
