A glorious travel book. There's never a dull moment, either, in the stunning photography or the entertaining travel notes
His easy-going charm and passion for discovery are captivating
He observes shrewdly, writes wittily; laughs with, not at, the people he meets, and charmingly slips in a huge amount of information. His approach still towers above its imitators
Palin is the Python we all want to go abroad with
Palin is as engaging a writer as he is a presenter, and one keeps turning the pages with anticipation and pleasure
But someone has chosen to have music, the same music, playing in the background at the beginning and end of the chapters. Why? I found this irritating, distracting, and unnecessary. It spoiled the experience. Especially as the chapters are relatively short.
