Travel back in time? Can it be done? Why not? If a good novel can take you anywhere in the world, why can’t it take you to any time?
The time destination for Jamboree: Build to Serve is the summer of 1969. As the Apollo 11 astronauts blasted off for the moon, a gigantic camp-out on the shores of beautiful Lake Pend Oreille gathered 35,000 boy scouts at Farragut State Park in North Idaho for the Eighth National Boy Scout Jamboree.
Scouts from all over the United States and several foreign countries came for a week of fun and learning. Together, they looked for ways to rebuild the turbulent society of the 1960s through acts of service.
Guided by actual events, you will travel back to the mid-20th century through the experiences of 12-year-old Ben Walters. Join Ben to explore varied American cultures, make new friends, and find acceptance among your peers, despite the harassment of hometown bullies. Join Ben in gaining a whole new vision of the world.
Can you imagine life in our culture before smartphones and the internet? Take the challenge, buy this book, listen to it, and share it with your family. Don’t miss real, heart-warming adventure into time only recently forgotten.
