Mars destroyed his ship - but gave him a new one.
Mars drafted his Mage - for the good of humanity!
He should have known that wouldn’t be the end of it….
Captain David Rice has a new ship, a new crew, and a new set of Jump Mages to carry him between the stars. All he wants is to haul cargo, make money and keep his head down.
His past, however, is not so willing to let him go. An old enemy is reaching out from beyond the grave to destroy any chance of peace or life for Captain Rice - and old friends are only making things more complicated!
All he wants is to be a businessman, but as the death toll mounts he must decide what is more important: his quiet life or the peace humanity has enjoyed for centuries.

The narrators do not bring life at all to the characters. Especially the female reader should stop asshuming because wenn you ashume you make an ash out of you and shme. I mean... shtupid, ashume, dishpose... come on...
Also, how can you depict a main character with such an clipped accent? Oh my...
I'm sorry I am just really annoyed with this audio book.
Major dishappointment...

The pronounciacion was good and clear, but the reading Flow seemed very strange, to small breaks between characters or scene transitions. It was especialy Bad in a few scenes were the characters switched between talking to other characters and thinking something, oftentimes only reconstructable afterwards what exactly was going on.
the female speaker also had a strange rythm of breaks in her reading, oftentimes going competed past/against what conversations would normale Sound like.
Overall okay, but speaker wise a lot worse than the main-series Starship mage books.
good Story, mediocre readers

love the story, the narration/speakers are shit

The problem is NOT that it's a split male/female narration. It's that BOTH of the narrators are quite bad on their own.
The male narrator cannot stick to correct or even consistent pronunciation: It's not a "blue jay" - the fricken ship was called Bluejay...
And to call JAG (in a navy story!) "Jay Ay Gee" instead of just Jag.... dear lord this was bad. Dont even get me started on the RFLAMs ("Arr-Flams" - or as the narrators call them "Arr Eff Ell Ayy Emm"s...)
Then there are scenes where we have multiple female characters speaking and the "voices" are all the same. On top of that one of the voices should have been explicitly "purring". What we as listeners get is a wooden rote recital...
Nice story - shite narration
