Sweet romcom, nicely narrated. The over-the-top mothers weren‘t quite my thing, but a very enjoyable heartwarming listen nonetheless.

Das war leider nicht die beste Geschichte die ich von Anna Bell gehört habe. Es war schwer die Charaktere lieb zu gewinnen, das Buch hatte Längen und es war mir viel zu konstruiert.

Schade, hätte gut sein können

Ich habe von der Autorin schon Besseres gelesen. Die Probleme mit dem Rückgrat, die die Hauptperson hat, haben mich ziemlich genervt und mir als Motor der Handlung nicht gefallen. In der Summe dann eine Liebesgeschichte, die zum Ziel kommt. Ich empfand es als vertane Chance, denn die Zutaten stimmten für mich, warum sich also durch Gewissenskonflikte kobstuiertester Natur quälen. Das hat es mir, wie gesagt, verdorben. Ich sage ja nicht, dass so eine Problematik nicht mal auftreten könnte, aber bitte doch nicht so gehäuft. Dies resultiert für mich in unattraktiver Charakterschwäche, die den Spaß an einem Happy End deutlich verringert. Es gibt schönere Wege, Pepp und Spannung in eine Handlung zu bringen. Kann man lesen/hören, muss man nicht. Die Sprecherin ist gut, ich fand aber, sie ließ die Hauptperson älter wirken.
Die Vorschau in die Jahre 21/22 als Schluss sind in meinen Augen etwas missglückt. Eine unbeschwerte Weihnachts-Zeit im Winter 20/21 im Rahmen der Corona Pandemie ist zumindest schon mal schwer fiktiv. Das kann also gründlich schiefgehen, die Zukunft mit einzubauen. Ich hoffe, in den Jahren 21/22 passt das Unbeschwerte dann wieder besser. Es wäre uns allen zu wünschen.
