Without spoiling anything, I have to talk about what’s been in my head since the ending of book one.
I was honestly so disappointed with Jude’s reaction to TJ’s success. The jumping to conclusions hurt—especially because deep down, Jude knows TJ would never intentionally do anything to hurt him. But insecurity is a powerful thing, and Jude’s fear of falling behind, of not being “enough” or “successful enough,” really took over.
I am firmly Team TJ here.
Yes, he’s emotionally closed off and doesn’t always share what’s going on inside his head—but that comes from self-preservation, not malice. He carries so much quietly, and it broke my heart a little to see that misunderstood.
I was relieved that the enemies-to-lovers tension didn’t drag on forever. Their pull toward each other is just as strong as before—magnetic, unavoidable, inevitable.
But the fake dating trope, in particular, dragged a bit too long for my taste in this installment. I would’ve loved to see them admit their feelings sooner—especially after everything they’d already been through.
That said… I wanted to bang their heads together.
For the love of all things romantic—TELL EACH OTHER YOU LOVE ONE ANOTHER ALREADY.
Why are we still tiptoeing around each other halfway through book two?! The emotional edging is real.
This book though was ultimately a very satisfying wrap-up to their decade-long pining. The banter remained sharp, funny, and emotionally charged. TJ’s growth—from keeping his secrets locked away to finally opening up to Jude, his friends, and his family—was beautifully done and deeply rewarding.
The final reveal of TJ’s book was the perfect finishing touch and felt like a heartfelt, full-circle love declaration. Emotional, vulnerable, and earned.
And once again, the audiobook narration elevated everything. The duet format with Teddy Hamilton, Shane East, and the full cast made this feel cinematic and immersive from start to finish.
