This is not your typical Zen book. Brad Warner, a young punk who grew up to be a Zen master, spares no one. This bold new approach to the "Why?" of Zen Buddhism is as strongly grounded in the tradition of Zen as it is utterly revolutionary. Warner's voice is hilarious, and he calls on the wisdom of everyone from punk and pop culture icons to the Buddha himself to make sure his points come through loud and clear. As it prods readers to question everything, Hardcore Zen is both an approach and a departure, leaving behind the soft and lyrical for the gritty and stark perspective of a new generation.

The subtitle says it all: There has never been a book like this.

Vom Autor selbst super vorgetragen.

Zen mal ganz anders

Würden Sie dieses Hörbuch einem Freund empfehlen? Wenn ja, was würden Sie ihm dazu sagen?

While very entertaining the book gives you a great introduction into zen buddhism. Highly recommended!

One of many great books of Brad Warner

Up until now I had never heard of Brad Warner. Whilst watching YouTube I was directed to on of his videos which was his practice of Zazen and it seemed like an honest and simple approach to what I wanted to know more about.

Brad's story of his journey to Zen is an interesting one and although I first believed that this was a story of how a rehabilated punk rocker came to Zen I was wrong as there is actually an intelligent university graduate who brings together his experience of living, working and meditating in Japan and has obviously prior to this read numerous books about Buddhism.

What I liked the most about Brad's audiobook was his explanation of Buddhism terminology in everyday language for those who don't have a degree in philosophy.

Brad is not a comedian, however manages to explain his story in a humourous way to ensure listeners are busy absorbing and taking notes on the most important aspects of Buddhism.

Thank you for sharing your story and bringing the practice of Zazen to the rest of the world

Zen through the eyes of an American

Wasn't too much into this book. There were definitely a few interesting anecdotes in there, and I did learn a bit about zen Buddhism / meditation practice.
However, the author felt kinda judgemental to me at times, and hypocritical as well (what's up with prefacing with how much you dislike autobiographies, and then it kinda turns into one?!😅) Really wasn't expecting it to be this heavily focused on his very personal experience, and it felt a bit forced to me how his was trying to weave the whole Hardcore Punk thing in there.

Not a fan..
