After loving the Elite series by these two authors a few weeks ago, I completely fell in love with their writing and their MM romances. I also picked up a couple of days ago Bedhead by Brooke Blaine (standalone), where Viper and Halo make their appearance—so I knew I had to pick up this series.

I am not usually a fan of rockstar/rockband stories and didn’t really know what to expect—but this first book in the trilogy surprised me in the best ways.
Halo was such a down-to-earth, talented, sexy (but completely oblivious about it) and level-headed character. I also did not expect him to be straight with all those angelic looks, which made his journey even more interesting.
And then there’s Viper… I honestly thought he’d be the typical cliché rockstar—drinking, rude, arrogant—but he was anything but. Yes, he’s blunt and doesn’t hold back, but he’s also layered, well-mannered, and an incredibly patient gentleman when it comes to Halo. He flirts shamelessly and makes his interest very clear from the beginning, but he never pushes—he gives Halo the space to come to terms with everything in his own time, which I really appreciated.
Another surprise: I expected this book to be very smut-heavy… but nope. This is a delicious slow burn—and I mean really slow. The chemistry, tension, and banter carried the story so well, and the actual payoff comes literally in the very last chapter.
It doesn’t actually end on a cliffhanger, but it also doesn’t fully close their story, so you know you have to pick up the next book, Viper… which I will definitely be doing next.
The narration by Charlie David was excellent. He didn’t just read the story—he brought real emotion into it. Especially in the more intimate scenes, where some narrators tend to overdo it, he kept things softer and more vulnerable, almost whispery at times, which gave me all the feels.

Halo is so pure, awesome and he’s talented as f***.
Viper was attracted to him since the moment he laid eyes on him and seeing him pursuing Halo was sexy but also a game changer. Viper doesn’t know why but he’s becoming obsessed with him and the way he goes about things … 🥵
Seeing Halo struggling with his feelings towards Viper is an eye opener. I’m pretty sure there’s lots of people who go through this but witnessing Halo taking matters into his own hands was amazing. He is a man who knows what he wants and goes after it.
I still got all the feelings that I felt the first time I read this. The narrator did an amazing job and I can’t wait to listen to Viper next.
