This is Britain as it has never been told.

From Newcastle to Cornwall, from the birth of the twentieth century to the teens of the twenty-first, Girl, Woman, Other follows a cast of twelve characters on their personal journeys through this country and the last hundred years. They're each looking for something - a shared past, an unexpected future, a place to call home, somewhere to fit in, a lover, a missed mother, a lost father, even just a touch of hope . . .

Beautifully interwoven stories of identity, race, womanhood, and the realities of modern Britain. The characters are so vivid, the writing is beautiful and it brims with humanity. (Nicola Sturgeon via Twitter)

These stories of women who are all woven together, but offer such radically different insights were a revelation to me. I feel like I of understood questions of feminism and black identity in completely new ways. Highly recommended!

Interessante Lebensgeschichten von verschiedenen Frauen, Töchtern, Müttern, Großmüttern, in unterschiedlichen Zeiten und doch miteinander verwoben.

Als Hörbuch sehr spannend

I really enjoyed this audiobook, listened to it in only three sessions over the spread of three days. I really connected to the various women portrayed in this book about what womanhood entails and what we all need to keep in mind in todays discussions about feminism, gender and equality. We’ll written and wonderfully read. Loved the story front to back!

Transforming story about black women

Perfekter Fit

I cried and laughed and was moved! i think I will buy the book so I can read it instead of "just" listening. Although I loved to hear the different accents
