Stirling liefert eine plausible Vision der Geschehnisse nach einem Totalausfall der Technik und Schusswaffen durch einen mysteriösen Vorfall "the change". Gespickt mit spektakulären Actionsequenzen und eingehenden Charakterbetrachtungen schildert Stirling eine Welt ohne die Errungenschaften des letzten Jahrhunderts und ohne Schießpulver. Zurückgeworfen auf das eigene Geschick mit Pfeil und Bogen und traditionelle Landwirtschaft versuchen verschiedene Personengruppen auf unterschiedliche Weise "the Change" zu überleben.Alles in allem eine wirklich faszinierende Saga über den Untergang der Zivilisation. Die sehr lange Laufzeit wirkt erheblich kürzer als man meint, man möchte die Wiedergabe gar nicht unterbrechen so spannend ist die Story und so gut ist der Sprecher (einziges Manko ist die falsche Ausprache von Begriffen aus dem Herrn der Ringe, auf den gelegentlich Bezug genommen wird, aber da diese nicht zu häufig sind stört es kaum).Uneingeschränkt empfehlenswert.
