First, I would like to mention a few topics that appear in this book and could trigger negative reactions in some listeners: drugs, child neglect, addiction, toxic emotional dependency, overdose, suicide. This being said and since I am not triggered by these topics, I can honestly say that I think this book is great. Difficult topics are not glossed over, the love story is painful but touched me deeply, and the two narrators are awesome.

I‘m a sucker for angst and hurt/comfort, so this was just fine for me. But the relationship is probably a very unhealthy one, even though they get to a somewhat healthier ground in the end. It’s probably not for those who try to stay clean and sober, because the high and lows of substance abuse are fairly explicit and make out a big part of the story. The s*x was okay, nothing too wild, but not too boring either. I really enjoyed the performance again and as I said I love angst, so this was very right for me, but I think you’ll have to test, if these heavy topics are something for you to enjoy too.
