PART 2 — THE TERRIFYING CONCLUSION

On Halloween night in 1998, a stranger wearing a scarecrow mask appeared outside my house and warned me that someone was watching from my upstairs bedroom.

I lived alone.

At first, I thought he was trying to scare me.

But later that night, I heard footsteps upstairs. When I picked up my telephone downstairs, someone lifted the receiver in my bedroom.

I could hear them breathing.

The police searched my house once and found nobody.

Then they came back.

This time, something was different.

An officer stopped me outside my own front door and told me not to come inside.

Moments later, I heard three words over his radio.

Behind the wall.

What the officers discovered inside my house changed everything I believed about that Halloween night.

And what they uncovered afterward was even more disturbing.

Because the person I had been afraid of wasn't necessarily the stranger standing outside.

The real danger was much closer than I ever imagined.

And the final discovery revealed just how close I had come to someone I never even knew was there.
