Our children are always watching. The way we handle challenges, prioritize our health, treat others, and show up each day can influence the choices they make for years to come.
In this episode of The Primal Journey, I'm joined by two friends from our 5:15 AM Burn Boot Camp community, Sara Henshaw and Karly Kline. Both are working mothers who have taken their commitment to fitness to another level by training and competing together in HYROX, a demanding competition that combines running with functional strength challenges.
But what inspired me to invite them onto the podcast had very little to do with their performance. It was hearing them talk about their daughters and how they wanted to demonstrate what it looks like to work hard, challenge yourself, and accomplish something difficult.
That message resonated deeply with my own journey. Four years ago, when I decided to give up alcohol and begin transforming my health, one of my greatest motivations was my children. I realized that if I wanted them to develop healthy habits, strong relationships, confidence, and discipline, I needed to demonstrate those qualities through my own actions.
Throughout our conversation, we explore Sara and Karly's personal journeys, the challenges of balancing motherhood, marriage, careers, and fitness, and the importance of making time for ourselves so we can show up better for the people who depend on us.
We also get into nutrition, recovery, faith, the value of community, managing distractions, and why our children benefit from seeing us struggle, grow, and continue moving forward.
Ultimately, this conversation is about something much bigger than fitness. It's about becoming more aware of the example we're setting and recognizing that the choices we make today can help shape the lives of those who come after us.
Our results will always match our choices, and those choices can influence generations. Therefore choose to Keep It Primal!
