From the twelve-million copy bestselling author of the Lewis trilogy comes a chilling new mystery set in the isolated Scottish Highlands.

A TOMB OF ICE

A young meteorologist checking a mountain top weather station in Kinlochleven discovers the body of a missing man entombed in ice.

A DYING DETECTIVE

Cameron Brodie, a Glasgow detective, sets out on a hazardous journey to the isolated and ice-bound village. He has his own reasons for wanting to investigate a murder case so far from his beat.

AN AGONIZING RECKONING

Brodie must face up to the ghosts of his past and to a killer determined to bury forever the chilling secret that his investigation threatens to expose.

Set against a backdrop of a frighteningly plausible near-future, A WINTER GRAVE is Peter May at his best.

Opinie krytyków

A Winter Grave is timely and chilling, painting a disturbing picture of the future . . . it's a meticulously researched thriller with gravitas that grips from the first page . . . May's first novel in two years is among the best he's written.
May has created a chilling believable near future . . . an atmospheric locked room mystery . . . this is as chilling as much for May's vision of where the we're heading as for the body count.
A gripping thriller set in a near future ravaged by the climate crisis.
A Winter Grave is a superb thriller loaded with timely warnings.

As a huge Scotland aficionado, this was right up my street. Peter May tells a tight story full of tense moments. The main character was also well-written, I wish he would have elaborated more on the female perspective, especially Mel and her motivation for doing what she did, but writing women doesn’t seem to be May’s strong suit as evidenced by this “gem” of a sentence: “36 years old and she was still a fine-looking woman.”
Urgh Peter, really?!?

Great story, great pace

Eine außerordentlich spannende Geschichte, die hoffentlich nie Realität sein wird, obwohl man da nicht so sicher sein kann. Chaos durch den Klimawandel korrespondiert mit dem individuellen Chaos der Protagonisten.

An Outlook on the Near Future

Very good book although a bit disturbing, not many likeable characters, but still it is a pageturner. Left me feel quite uncomfortable. No time for miracles.

Intriguing yet disturbing story

Great mixture of a typical Peter May story, now combined with well-researched science fiction.

Peter May‘s excellent view into the future
