If Credence and Birthday Girl had a cowboy baby, it would be this book.
Is it great literature? No.
Is it great cliterature? Hell yes.
This book is definitely more spice than plot, and I was squealing internally the whole time – though the middle dragged a little more than I would’ve liked.
That said, the yearning and tension were chef’s kiss, and I had a blast reading this. There’s lots of chemistry, longing, and a slow-burn romance with a really nice balance between heat and emotional depth.
Colton’s mouth? Gasps.
The way Layla responds to him? Perfection.
Despite the large age gap, they fit surprisingly well together. I loved both main characters – which is rare for me – and there was something very addictive about the writing. I also really enjoyed the audiobook; Gabriel Sparks and Amy Hall did a fantastic job bringing the story to life.
If you enjoy cowboy and forbidden romance, age gaps, forced proximity, the snowed-in trope, and a possessive man with a very filthy mouth, then this book is definitely for you.
I’ll absolutely be continuing this series.
