Über diesen Titel
The ice is coming. It was the last thing we expected, but the world is freezing. A new ice age has dawned and humanity has been forced to confront its own extinction. Billions have fled the glaciers, crowding out the world’s last habitable zones. They can run from the ice, but they can’t escape human nature: a cataclysmic war is coming.
In orbit, a group of scientists are running the Winter Experiments, a last-ditch attempt to understand why the planet is cooling. None of the climate models they build make sense. But then they discover an anomaly, an unexplained variation in solar radiation...and something else. Close to the burning edge of the sun, they catch a fleeting glimpse of something that shouldn’t be there....
Suddenly humanity must face the possibility it is not alone in the universe. And the terrifying possibility that whatever is out there may be trying to exterminate us.

the male protagonist was an interesting character at the beginning, because he had to pay for crimes involving his specialty as a robotics expert that the reader doesn't know about yet. There are some subtle hints but it's never revealed until the end. But at some point it becomes clear that he isn't at all remorseful for what he's done, which gets validated at the end. he did nothing wrong, in his eyes his crime was not understanding that humanity wasn't ready yet for his brilliance. His story turns out to be a tech bro singularity evangelist's wet dream.
Meanwhile the strong and likable female protagonist devolves more and more into an emotional support figure for the genius that can't handle social interactions. While starting out as an impressive person with a great mind she reaches her designated position as nothing not then the social shield for the genius main character by the end. The author even gives her a physical disability and one wonders if it's to make the power dynamic more obvious.
A lesser, but also vexing point throughout the whole book is that I can't shake the feeling that the author desperately wished his books to be adapted to the screen. It feels a lot like it was written with visuals in mind, some "scenes" don't really add anything to the book, but they would probably spark a reaction on screen.
well this took a bad turn...

So now about the characters.
They are not very deep. She is crying all the time and when he finally does cry there is one single tear rolling down hahahah how manly. He does everything and knows everything and what her quality’s are beside build stuff he tells her to do I don’t know.
IQuote: „just an other conversation where we left so many things unsaid“. Why would you want to have a relationship when there are always things to hide and you can not be open to each other? Stupid!
Oh and his biiiig secret is so obvious that there is absolutely no surprise when it is finally revealed. C’mon! Just try it at least but like this it’s just boring. It like his other book „lost in time“ but with this one I just wasted my time.
Boring 🥱
