Über diesen Titel
One of the most dynamic and globally recognized entertainment forces of our time opens up fully about his life, in a brave and inspiring book that traces his learning curve to a place where outer success, inner happiness, and human connection are aligned. Along the way, Will tells the story in full of one of the most amazing rides through the worlds of music and film that anyone has ever had.
Will Smith’s transformation from a West Philadelphia kid to one of the biggest rap stars of his era, and then one of the biggest movie stars in Hollywood history, is an epic tale — but it’s only half the story.
Will Smith thought, with good reason, that he had won at life: Not only was his own success unparalleled, his whole family was at the pinnacle of the entertainment world. Only they didn't see it that way: They felt more like star performers in his circus, a seven-days-a-week job they hadn't signed up for. It turned out Will Smith's education wasn't nearly over.
This memoir is the product of a profound journey of self-knowledge, a reckoning with all that your will can get you and all that it can leave behind. Written with the help of Mark Manson, author of the multi-million-copy best seller The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck, Will is the story of how one person mastered his own emotions, written in a way that can help everyone else do the same. Few of us will know the pressure of performing on the world's biggest stages for the highest of stakes, but we can all understand that the fuel that works for one stage of our journey might have to be changed if we want to make it all the way home. The combination of genuine wisdom of universal value and a life story that is preposterously entertaining, even astonishing, puts Will the book, like its author, in a category by itself.

Because Will Smith is such a performer by nature, it’s difficult to see through the cracks. I believe the most lively chapters where early on in part one. They felt the most detailed. They seemed to be full of life. Then, just as everything was pure luck for Will - I mean, auditioning at Quincy Jones’ birthday party while MJ and Oprah stare down at him from their pictures on Quincy’s wall - superstardom arrives, and I believe it robs him of this authenticity that his earlier stories conveyed. I had fun throughout this book and to be honest, the most I was invested was during that hectic part two. But at some point, after fifty percent, mid-part two and drifting toward the end of the book, it became a series of events rather than what it was in the beginning. And in the end, Will gets it. It’s a life flashing before our eyes. What exactly is going on inside of him after decades (now) of all this pressure? I don’t believe we get the answer in this book. In part three, I must admit that I was moved to tears on multiple occasions (mostly in regard to his dad). All in all, this audiobook was an amazing experience. Will’s energy made it feel like a flick. And to have Will Smit’s remix of Joyner Lucas’ Will song play at the end… Oh man. They don’t make movie stars like Will Smith anymore. I’m not sure if it’s better that way or not. We will see (or maybe we have begun to see) what being THAT movie star has done to Will.
I'm feeling like Will

He mixes up the chronological events with flash backs and forwards but you never loose a sense of historical context.
It is endearing to hear about his life long friendships and working relationships.
One of the best autobiographies out there! Well done!
I listened at 1.2 speed, which worked out nicley execpt for the few Charlie Mack-quotes that actually turned out kind of funny that way! Nice audio production with music.
Amazing stories - authentically told!

I wish he would have simplified some of the sophisticated word choice in some parts of the book specifically for the audio performance. Sitting cold on a page, without his performance, I know that these words were essential, but sometimes the word choice distracted from the realness and rawness of the stories.
This is such a must-read that it should be mandatory in schools. LOVE!
