Über diesen Titel

Sebastian Rousseau is a grumpy, hot as hell fire pilot who is too damn good with his hands. It’s the perfect combination. But unfortunately for me, he’s also my ex-boyfriend’s dad.

A chance meeting brought us together and a missed connection has kept us apart.

One year later, a stroke of fate has us living under the same roof—which makes everything between us downright messy. Because even after all this time, he’s still the man I think about when I fall asleep. The one I can’t get over no matter how hard I try.

He’s working on mending a fragile relationship with his son and we both know acting on these urges would be the ultimate betrayal. But I see the heat in his eyes. That look of need that never fails to send a shiver down my spine.

The mutual longing is borderline unbearable and the simmering heat between us is downright palpable. We both know there are rules when it comes to situations like this. But then again…following the rules never has been my strong suit.

As someone who’s adored every book in the Rose Hill series—some just a little more than others—I can confidently say that Wild Card was a worthy and deeply satisfying conclusion. Each installment in the series brought something unique to the table, and this final book was no exception. I had high expectations, and it absolutely did not disappoint.

Let’s start with the narration: perfection. I genuinely appreciated that Elsie Silver didn’t stick to the same narrators throughout the entire series like many authors tend to do. This decision helped each couple and story feel distinct, and made the characters come alive in their own way. Connor Crais, one of my all-time favorite narrators, was Bash. His voice captured Bash’s strength, restraint, and quiet vulnerability so effortlessly. Meghan Wick brought Gwen to life with her velvety, throaty voice—calm, sexy, and just right for such a strong yet nurturing character.

Now to the story…
Bash. This man. I don’t even know where to begin. My heart ached for him—how he constantly put others before himself, how his kindness was taken advantage of for years, and how deeply he struggled with feeling undeserving of love or companionship. He was selfless, generous, and painfully lonely. Truly, the perfect emotionally layered MMC.

Gwen was exactly the woman he needed. Fierce, warm, and open-hearted, she slowly broke through his walls and helped him find joy again. Their dynamic was beautiful—they completed each other in every way. This was one of the slowest slow burns I’ve ever read, and while it made their emotional connection even more meaningful, I do wish we had a bit more spice once things heated up. A longer or more detailed epilogue would have also been the cherry on top.

That said, Wild Card delivered a heartfelt and fitting end to a series that has left a lasting impression. I’m sad to say goodbye to Rose Hill, but I’m grateful for the journey each book has taken me on. Highly recommended!

Heartfelt slow burn with top notch narration

Elsie Silver does it again—Bash was grumpy, sexy, and surprisingly selfless, and Gwen was such a confident, zen heroine. Clyde completely stole the show with his conspiracies and humor! The story was heartfelt and fun. The narration was excellent: Megan Wicks brought so much range and depth to Gwen, making her sound distinct from other characters she’s voiced. Connor Craiss was solid too, though sometimes his characters blended together a bit. Overall, an awesome listen!
