Über diesen Titel

The first book in Dorothy L Sayers' classic Lord Peter Wimsey series - a must-listen for fans of Agatha Christie's Poirot and Margery Allingham's Campion Mysteries.

It was the body of a tall stout man. On his dead face, a handsome pair of gold pince-nez mocked death with grotesque elegance.

The body wore nothing else.

Lord Peter Wimsey knew immediately what the corpse was supposed to be. His problem was to find out whose body had found its way into Mr Alfred Thipps' Battersea bathroom.

Having read the wonderful books of Dorothy L. Sayers over and over again, I decided to listen to them. The reader Robert Bathurst is just sublime. He gets everything right. It’s Sayer‘s first book with the delightful Lord Peter Wimsey and his faithful companions. It’s a tricky murder mystery full of wit, charm and also empathy. For me her books are the height escapism.

Formidable

I enjoyed everything about the book—plot, characters, performance. The character of Lord Peter is wonderfully complex, defying some expectations he raises when first introduced. Parker is an excellent foil, and the Duchess of Denver absolutely inimitable. As for Bunter: some might consider him underemployed, but Peter knows his worth. Looking forward to Sayers’ further installments—she was a consummate maker.

So glad to meet Lord Peter & Co
