Who Are You Anyway? is a deep and thoughtful dive into two of the most important verses in Hebrew Scripture. Scholarly with a devotional thrust, the audiobook focuses on Exodus chapter 34, verses 6 and 7, where the Creator answers Moses's critical question after the golden calf debacle. Until we explore the Almighty's answer, it is difficult to understand not only who God is, but also who we are and who we should be. The author spotlights the underlying Hebrew texts and related scriptural verses while, Rabbinical commentary as well as personal history.
In addition to Hebrew and Christian Scriptures, insights are drawn from Maimonides, Rashi, Sforno, Kugel, Jonathan Sacks, Clement of Alexandria, Irenaeus, and Augustine among others. Aside from the preface and first chapter, each succeeding chapter focuses on individual Hebrew words or phrases in the two verses. An abbreviated glossary is included, along with an appendix containing 36 modern and ancient translations of Exodus 34:6-7.
No matter your background or situation, every listener will profit from contemplation of just who this God is that created us. That knowledge will help unpack who you are!
