    Inhaltsangabe

A personal and powerful essay from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, the best-selling author of Americanah and Half of a Yellow Sun, based on her 2013 TEDx talk of the same name.

'I would like to ask that we begin to dream about and plan for a different world. A fairer world. A world of happier men and happier women who are truer to themselves. And this is how to start: we must raise our daughters differently. We must also raise our sons differently....'

    What does feminism mean today?

In this personal, eloquently argued essay - adapted from her much-admired TEDx talk of the same name - Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie offers listeners a unique definition of feminism for the 21st century, one rooted in inclusion and awareness. Drawing extensively on her own experiences and her deep understanding of the often masked realities of sexual politics, here is one remarkable author's exploration of what it means to be a woman now - an of-the-moment rallying cry for why we should all be feminists.

    Kritikerstimmen

"The book I'd press into the hands of girls and boys, as an inspiration for a future world of happier men and happier women who are truer to themselves." (Books of the Year, The Independent)
"One and a half million YouTube viewings later, this small but perfectly formed talk has become an equally small but perfectly formed book, thanks to Fourth Estate. The perfect size in fact for handbags, pockets and Christmas stockings. There really is no excuse not to buy several." ( Harper's Bazaar)

    Highly recommended !

I loved this book. Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie has a wonderful and powerful voice, both on the page and as a narrator. With much insight, exceptional humanity - and not a little humor ;) - she shares her experiences and thoughts. This book was a balm to my soul.

    Beautiful essay

I love that it is her who is reading the book.
It is so easy to understand but there's so much knowledge and storytelling in her words that time passed by like nothing.

    A good and personal essay

I needed a few seconds to come to terms with her reading voice, but it was also a problem with my speakers.
I enjoyed the nearly 50 minutes of this essay and it gave me, also a feminist, a few new things and points to think about.
It feels very personal the whole time and It was easy to picture myself in a lot of situations that were described.
I will read more of this author, especially her first book and can recommend this audio to everyone who is a feminist and everyone else because: We should all be feminists

    Einfach großartig!

Jeder und jede sollte dieses Hörbuch mindestens einmal gehört haben.
Kein Kampf, keine Hysterie, kein Streit.
Einfach hinhören und dann hinschauen und begreifen lernen.
Der essentielle Bestandteil von Diskriminierung ist, dass jene, die sie nicht erleben, sie nicht sehen!
    Do better ❤️
