After watching the series on Netflix, I was curious for the book. I think it’s amazing! You get a much deeper view of Deborah growing up in the Hasidic community and all the things that are customary there. It gives a chance to understand what is in the people’s minds and, maybe somewhere, why they decide to live in a world so different from ours.

Very insightful and reflective of so many issues that many people experience!

I really enjoyed this audiobook! The reader gets a thrilling inside into the Hasidic way of life and the emotional troubles of a young girl feeling as a stranger in this community. It makes you think about all the things we- who live in freedom- take for granted. The story leaves you in awe for this brave young girl. Finally a good contemporary book, thank you!

Ich habe es verschlungen! Ich bin, wie wahrscheinlich viele andere auch, durch die Netflix-Serie darauf gekommen. Durch das Buch bekommt man viel tiefere Einblicke in die Welt des ultraorthodoxen Judentums. Die Geschichte unterscheidet sich stark von der der Serie.

i really liked listening to the book, but actually I thought that it includes more about the time after she left Williamsburg. Sometimes I struggled with it, but it was worth it. :)
