Über diesen Titel
I’ve never been romantic. Just ask my ex-wife.
Since she broke up with me, I get my needs met any time I want, without putting my heart on the line. Exactly how I like it.
But when she is called overseas and leaves me with our child, my bachelor lifestyle ends faster than you can say, “Daddy, I want a pony.”
I need help.
Problem is, help’s come in the form of an incredibly hot nanny.
My employee.
Who is much younger than me.
And also...a guy.
I watch Scott care for my kid and can’t help feeling like he clicks into place in her life.
When he looks at me, though...I get an entirely different feeling. One that makes me long for things I can’t have.
Like him.
Unmanageable is a contemporary m/m age-gap romance about a starry-eyed nanny who wants hot-air balloon rides and singing telegrams and a grumpy single dad who most definitely does not.
©2022 Leslie McAdam (P)2022 Heart Eyes Press LLCA quick, cozy read exactly the way I love them: low drama, high comfort, and genuinely lovely characters. This book wrapped me up like a warm blanket and refused to let go.
We get MM romance with all my favorite tropes:
✨ age gap
✨ grumpy/sunshine
✨ single dad / nanny
✨ slow burn with delicious tension
Scott is such a cute, relatable MMC. He’s down on his luck—buried in bills, nearly broke, facing eviction, and freshly dumped after a painful wake-up call with his so-called boyfriend (emphasis on ex). He’s a hopeless romantic who believes in love, grand gestures, romance novels, and movie-worthy moments. Big heart, bright energy, total golden retriever vibes.
Enter Luke: grumpy, workaholic, emotionally walled-off, and completely overwhelmed as a single dad while his ex is abroad for six months. Scott lands a job as Luke’s live-in nanny, and his natural caregiving presence—basically Mary Poppins with better banter—immediately disrupts Luke’s carefully controlled world. Luke is annoyed. Then intrigued. Then quietly, deeply infatuated.
The attraction is mutual, and the slow burn is handled so well—soft, believable, and full of chemistry. Watching these two grow together was such a treat. Scott learns to be more responsible with money and more protective of his heart, while Luke slowly lowers his walls and realizes he is worthy of love—and maybe not as hopeless at relationships as he believed.
The writing is fluent, funny, and tight, with no unnecessary filler dragging things down. The spice is present but balanced—never overwhelming the emotional connection, just enhancing it.
And the narration? Absolute perfection.
Teddy Hamilton brought Scott’s playful charm and warmth to life flawlessly, while Jacob Morgan delivered the broody, exhausted single dad energy Luke needed. Truly the cherry on top—I love these two narrators, and together they were chef’s kiss.
