I didn’t expect to like this story so much. But I’m glad that I do. Beautiful characters. The romance between the side characters was incredibly captivating. The tension and humour in this book was amazing. Absolutely loved this performance of the reader, I felt the emotions through the performance. 10/10

No fae, mates, dagons, or shadow daddies like in most fantasy stories these days, but rather a dark and twisted tale that makes you feel the mist on your skin and hear the whisper of the Spirit of the Woods as you read. It took me a little while to fully immerse myself in the story, but in the end, I truly loved the characters and the beautiful symbolism woven throughout, especially the recurring motif of the trees.

Be wary, be clever, be good.

Rachel Gillig has somehow captured the perfect balance of character development, storyline, and intrigue and fantasy in this sequel. I was hesitance at first since many chapters were from the viewpoint of a character I was not fond of in the first book, but by the end I was as dedicated to Elm's story as to Raven's and Elsbeth's. Would listen/read again

The magic elements and characters in this story are written wonderfully. This is the book that you want after reading the first part. It keeps on the same great dark atmosphere as the first, continues the plot and leans into more of the other character's thoughts and backgrounds.

The perfect second part that reads like it's own book

Only finished because of the good reviews and hoping I would get better. But the story was really boring and I did not like the narration at all.
