Über diesen Titel
Since Hank Calder's four-year-old niece Josie came to live with him, his life has been plenty dramatic, thank you, and the last thing he needs is a swishy, flaming twinkie to complicate things. But when Justin, the daycare worker at his gym, offers to do something incredibly nice for Hank - and for Josie - Hank is forced to reconsider. Justin may be flamboyant in his speech and gestures, but his heart and kindness are as rock steady and dependable as anyone, even Hank, could ask for. Can Hank trust in his dramatic “turkey in the snow” to offer his heart the joy he and Josie have never known?
A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2012 Advent Calendar package “Evergreen”.
©2012 Amy Lane (P)2014 Dreamspinner PressNo matter how hard Henry/Hank tries to avoid drama, it always seems to find him. When his sister drops her 4-year-old daughter Josie at his doorstep, Henry's whole life becomes complicated. Suddenly he has to bake cookies, read bed time stories, sing in front of the toilett and hunt down Halloween costumes. Luckily his fitness studio offers daycare for customers' kids. But there is Justin working,a young, flamboyant man,over-happy and flipping hands. When Justin offers to take Josie to see „Santa“ and frees Henry to get his guest room set ready for the child service visit, Henry has to reconsider. There is way more to Justin than just being a „drama queen“. Justin has a kind heart, is a person one can depend on and he is also stubborn enough to persue his dream of getting closer to gruffy Hank. With plenty of drama around, will Henry dare to let Justin into his and Josie's life?
Amy Lane has witten such a sweet, funny, all drama Christmas Short Story that touches your heart right from the very first page. With just a few sentences struggeling Hank, little Josie and swishy Justin become „alive“ and walk right into your heart.
Gomez Pugh does a stunning job telling this story and giving „life“ to those 3 lovable MC's.
He portays Henry's exhaustion and irritation as natural as Justin's overflowing happiness. One can almost see the two strikingly differnt men doing their Xmas shopping in the mall. One being kind of reserved while the other one waving his arms and pulling him along! Even Josie's girly child voice is well done, higher but not sounding forced and out of place at all. Mr. Pugh's narration is so fresh and vibrant, every singel time the end of this 2 ½ hour Audio Book is reached I wished it would be longer!
