I reaaallllyyy liked the story and this mountain cabin atmosphere it gave . I don't think that the point was only to find the murder but how f-up a life can be. would prefer a happier ending but again, I don't think that was either the point or focus. Love that a the characters had a purpose.

because it’s wonderfully read again by Kathleen Early … Good story but not very surprising at all. If you pay a little attention the outcome is pretty clear from the beginning. The twists and turns don’t feel like actual twists and turns. A little too predictable..

one of the saddest stories on Karen but very well written. I still enjoyed listening to it.

Lots of details of rape, melodramatic tales of incest and "dark secrets" but no real character development or story. Seems like the author was relying on shock value rather than storytelling which made it both boring and depressing. The narrator did well, it seems like she was overacting a lot but I think that was rather the lazy dialogue . Her character voices do feel a bit stereotyped- poor white "trash" righteously angry Black woman- so 2 dimensional characters voiced in an exaggerated manner made for a lot of cringing. At 2 hours to go I don't even care who dunnit- I need to detox my brain.
